The Hoyleton Grade School Board of Education met last week and Superintendent Elaine Hempker says they discussed the process of having Doctor Osborne come to the school and evaluate the situation, as to whether the school should stay as it is or possibly combine with another school.  The study will begin before school ends and Hemker says it should be completed by September or October.  It is being funded by Hoyleton and Nashville Grade School.  The Board also approved the next school year calendar.  She also said they approved the prevailing wage rate, which is the wage they will pay for any outside contractor to come in and work, per federal guidelines.  This is a yearly item that needs to be approved.  She then said before the regular meeting, they met with Trinity Lutheran, as to the upcoming sports season on the sports they co-op together on.  They went over coaching and schedules.  Graduation at Hoyleton will be on May 27th at 7 PM at the school for the 2 8th graders they have.  The last day of school will be May 30th.  Hemker says they had their first ever blood drive and it went very well.  They set a goal of 25 units, but they ended up with 31 units, so it was a big success.  The school is celebrating Earth Day all week with different activities each day.
