Marie Stewart, age 89 of Odin, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Twin Willow Nursing Center in Salem.

Marie was born on April 20, 1936 in Antioch, Kansas, the daughter of Wayne Allen and Opal (Elrod) Royer. She married Gilbert Stewart on July 11, 1954 in Centralia, Illinois and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Rodney Stewart and wife Sandy of Odin, and Vanessa Rostance and husband Jeff of Salem; grandchildren, Aaron Rostance and wife Allison, Stacy Rives and husband Jason, Andrew Stewart and wife Heather, Lynette McCain and husband Shannon, and Justin Stewart, Jesse Mamell and Jessica; 24 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Dolores Johnson and husband Larry of Summerfield, Illinois; sister in-law, Dixie Royer of Waterloo, Illinois; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilbert; a brother, Harold Royer; and a sister, Helen Klucker.

Marie was a member of the Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem and attended the Odin First Baptist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper for 40 years and was the former owner of Stewart’s Café. She was a member of the Salem Township Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer for many years at Doctor’s Nursing Home in Salem.

Celebration of life services for Marie Stewart will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Odin First Baptist Church with Roger Lipe officiating. There will be a time to visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
