Marilyn Sue Williams, 78, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:26 pm January 20, 2025 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born April 9, 1946 in Sesser, Illinois to the late John Irvin and Thelma Mae (White) Winemiller.
Marilyn is survived by her sister, Catherine “Kay” Mathus and husband, Dale of Mount Vernon; sister-in-law, Mary Winemiller Payne of Maryville, Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her cherished son, Brian Keith Williams; sisters, Helen Martin, Shelvia Jean Jones, Elizabeth Bapties, and Linda Lou Winemiller; brothers, Lewis “Dude”, Keith Dale, James, and Charles Alvin Winemiller; several nephews; and beloved niece, Georgie.
Marilyn was a loving mother, sister, and aunt. She thought the world of her nieces and nephews and would do anything for them. She absolutely loved babies and cared for many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. She had a beautiful, sassy soul and did not hesitate to tell you how she felt good or bad. She enjoyed dancing and spending time with loved ones. She was a constant help to her beloved sister, Kay. She took great joy in the banter between her and brother-in-law, Dale. She is gone from our sight but will live on in our hearts forever and is greatly missed already.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Travis Hayes officiating. Inurnment will follow. Memorials may be made in Marilyn’s honor to the charity of the donor’s choice.
