Lee R. Wilson, 74, of Carmi, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on March 30, 1950, in McLeansboro, Illinois, the son of Lee and Dana (Storey) Wilson. He married Joyce Julia Stover on March 18, 2000, and she survives. Lee worked as a teacher at Mt. Carmel High School, and later worked as a college professor at Rend Lake College and Southeastern Illinois College. He taught continuing education for many of the coal mines locally. Lee was a member of the Carmi Church of Christ. He was a past Mason. Lee enjoyed gardening, farming, mechanics, fishing, hunting, boating and motorcycle riding. He had a passion for genealogy and sharing his family history with his family and whoever would listen. He participated in many Civil War reenactments. Lee’s greatest joy was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Joyce Wilson of Carmi, IL, Lee is survived by his children, Mark Palmer of Mt. Vernon, IL. and Amy (Ryan) Youngblood of Columbus, MS; step-children, Scott (Pam) Miller of New Harmony, IN. and Tiffany Gosnell of New Harmony, IN; grandchildren, Anthony Palmer, Nikolas (Kara) Palmer, Ethen Loss, Jonathan (Allyson) Youngblood, Abigail Youngblood, Sierrha (Zack) Sollman, Jordyn (Caleb) McDaniel, Kaitlynn Kessinger and Kourtney (Brad) Nall; great-grandchildren, Leah Palmer, Sophia Palmer, Noel Loss, William Gosnell, Sylas McDaniel, Elanor McDaniel and Samuel Adam Nall; siblings, Cathy (David) Gidcumb of Salem, MO, Carl (Bonnie) Wilson of Potosi, MO, Bob (Sharon) Wilson of McLeansboro, IL. and Ken (Cindy) Wilson of Makanda, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Lee R. Wilson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Sunday, December 22, 2024. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family or to Campbell Funeral Home. Donations may also be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821.
