Narrah W. McCoy, 98, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at his home.
He was born March 13, 1926, in Mt. Vernon, the son of John and Eula (Garrison) McCoy-Brown. On January 27, 1952, in Mt. Vernon, he married Hazella Thompson, and she survives in Mt. Vernon.
Mr. McCoy was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in both World War II and Korea. He was very family-oriented, quick to listen but slow to speak, and was always full of wisdom and good advice. He was very well-read, and enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and music. He was a hard worker, and would show his faith and love through his daily actions.
In addition to his wife, Hazella McCoy of Mt. Vernon, he is survived by children, Cindi Peterman and husband Dan of Dix, Jeff McCoy and wife Karen of Superior, Colorado, and JoAnne Davis and husband John of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Abby Arnett, Asher Arnett, Madison Dole, John Michael Davis, Joseph Davis, Kate Davis, Nolan McCoy, and Logan McCoy; nine great-grandchildren, Rylee, Natalia, Gabriel, Ethan, Jaxon, Jaydon, Daisy, Christopher, and Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Josh Arnett; brothers, Carl Brown and Ted Walker; and sisters, Mary Cheek and Betty Huston.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites for Mr. McCoy will be accorded, with a memorial service to be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of service, Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the funeral home.
