CENTRALIA, IL — Centralia High School’s tax rate is set to drop as the district retires a bond used to fund construction projects, including the high school and sports stadium. Superintendent Chuck Lane says the move offsets most of a 4.98% tax levy increase, resulting in just a 0.25% overall hike. The board also approved a $50,000 state grant for classroom painting and handled personnel changes, including resignations from two special education teachers and a technology specialist. Additionally, a student was reassigned to the Alternative Learning Academy for a second drug and vape offense.
