MT. VERNON – Mt. Vernon Police say there will be a heavy police presence again at Mt. Vernon Township High School Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. for their annual active shooter training.
According to a Mt. Vernon Police Department Facebook post, the Mt. Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has always taken this training seriously and strive to provide their officers and deputies with the best training and preparation possible.
Both departments thank Mt. Vernon Township High School for allowing them to train at the high school. This better prepares law enforcement to be more familiar with the campus and enhance their response to an incident.
This is just one of many trainings officers conduct every year to become highly trained so they can provide the best response and service to the community.
Both departments were also at the high school Monday for their training session.
