(ILLINOIS RADIO NETWORK) A federal judge has set Dec. 12 for oral arguments in a case seeking to block Illinois’ gun ban registry deadline.
Shelbyville Republican state Rep. Brad Halbrook was among the first to provide public comments during hearings held by the Illinois State Police.
He also raised questions about the registration process on the state House floor earlier this month. This week, he said his questions have yet to be answered.
Tuesday, in a case brought by Federal Firearms Licensees of Illinois that was amended to challenge the registration deadline, Southern District of Illinois federal Judge Stephen McGlynn gave litigants a Dec. 12 date for oral arguments in the case.
McGlynn said the case is time-sensitive and suggested he will get a ruling out before the Jan. 1 registration deadline.
