EWING, Ill. — Multiple agencies rushed to Ewing Monday on a call for mutual aid on a fire at Hey Carl’s Bar on Illinois Route 14 just north of Benton.

According to Ewing North Fire, flames were shooting through the roof of the building as they arrived around 3 p.m.

Departments that responded to the call for mutual aid, included Jefferson and Kell, Centralia Fire Protection District, Woodlawn, Wayne City, Benton, West Frankfort, Williamson County, Benton, Thompsonville Fire, and West Frankfort Fire.

Due to the lack of a water source at the scene, firefighters set up a water shuttle to provide water for two aerial trucks being used to fight the blaze.
