The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to 5 accidents and assisted 2 motorists in the past week. One accident was on Wednesday in Ashley on Route 15 and Southwest Railroad Street, as a vehicle driven by 33-year old Heather L. McFeron of Nashville struck a vehicle in front of her, driven by 50-year old Janice K. Dunphy of Godfrey. No injuries were reported and McFeron was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. There was an accident on Thursday on Weaver Creek Road as a vehicle driven by 64-year old Albert Rudert of Addieville struck a deer. Rudert was not injured. Also, Thursday, there was an accident on Route 60 near Raven Road, as a vehicle driven by 87-year old Shirley M. Seering of Addieville was slowing down to turn from going south on Route 60 to west on Raven Road. A vehicle driven by 32-year old Julie K. Shaffer of Nashville was also going south and failed to reduce speed and struck the rear of Seering’s vehicle. There were no injuries, but Shaffer was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. Another accident on Thursday in Addieville that involved a tree branch falling on a vehicle driven by Jacquiline Sutton, but there was no report of any injuries. The final accident was on Sunday on Nebraska Road near Indian Trail Road, as a vehicle driven by Ralph Gogolek of rural DuBois exited the roadway and overturned in a ditch. Gogolek refused treatment and there were no citations issued.
