MT. VERNON – The first leaf burning week in the City of Mt. Vernon is set for Monday, April 14 through Sunday, April 20.

Residents will be able to burn leaves between sunrise and sunset each day. All fires must be attended by someone at least 18 years old.

You are not allowed to burn on any public street, public sidewalk, drainage ditch within the public right-of-way nor any manhole cover or upon the property of another without written permission.

Burning of any kind is prohibited during any permitted leaf burning period by order of the Fire Chief due to high winds, dry conditions and other factors.
