CENTRALIA, IL — A 19-year-old homeless man from Centralia was arrested over the weekend after causing a disturbance at the Centralia Home and Community Expo. James VanScoy was asked to leave the event but fled when confronted by police. After a brief chase, VanScoy allegedly struck Lieutenant Steve Whritenour in the head before being taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery and resisting arrest, and is being held at the Clinton County Jail.
