SALEM, IL — A Salem Police Officer struck a pedestrian on West Main Street after the woman stepped into traffic while walking eastbound in dark clothing. 41-year-old Katie Davita-Gaudet of Sandoval was clipped by the patrol car’s passenger-side mirror. The officer immediately stopped to check on her, and EMS was called to the scene. Although Davita-Gaudet did not appear to have major injuries, she was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation.
