WEST FRANKFORT – Five people were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a three-vehicle crash on southbound I-57 near West Frankfort around 7:15 Saturday morning.
Illinois State Police say a pickup pulling a trailer, a minivan and a box truck were going south near milepost 67 in a construction zone when the box truck slowed down to stop due to traffic. The minivan was behind the box truck and was also stopping. The driver of the pickup failed to stop and rear-ended the minivan. The minivan then struck the box truck.
All drivers and passengers in the affected vehicles were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Traffic got back to normal at 8:45 a.m.
