Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Schubert, 58, of Centralia, Illinois, formerly of Huey, Illinois, passed away at Belleville Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 4, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 8, 1965, in Breese, IL, the daughter of the late Eugene Schubert and Corrine (Flanagan) Schubert. Cindy grew up in Huey, Illinois, and graduated from Carlyle High School in 1984. She held many jobs over the years, working at The Villager, Trimfoot, Carlyle Lake, Moore Brothers, Team Phoenix, and Conagra Foods. She enjoyed many, many adventurous and loving years with her lifelong partner, Richard Porter Jr.

Cindy is also survived by her daughter, Hannah Porter and boyfriend Ben of Centralia, IL; sister, Loretta Schubert of Centralia, IL; brother, Robert Schubert and wife Francine of Miami, FL; brother, Mike Schubert and Kim of Belleville, IL; nephews, Chris Schubert, Cody Schubert, Zach Schubert, and Dylan Schubert; nieces, Ariel Moon and husband Dustin, Brittany Schubert, and Josie Schubert; as well as many cousins and friends.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Schubert and Corrine (Flannigan) Schubert.

Cindy was known for being a kind, caring woman, one who was in love with life and found beauty in everything. She had an amazing sense of humor, and her aloof nature never failed to make others laugh. She gave gifts to everyone she could, and everywhere she went, she never failed to find a treasure that she knew would be loved by someone in her life. She spent many of her years caring for stray cats that would wander into her life and become hers. She was known for her incredible work ethic, and would always work hard and take pride in everything she did. Cindy will be remembered for her fantastic mimosas and her delicious corn flake “chewies.” She valued her family and friends over everything else, and never spent a moment alone. Everywhere she went, Cindy could easily make friends from all walks of life. She was a wonderful, loving mother, and though she only birthed one daughter, many regard Cindy as their “mom” because of the tender love and care she gave them throughout her many years. She was a very kind, caring, beautiful, and intelligent woman who will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
