CARBONDALE – City of Carbondale detectives continue to investigate the shooting that occurred on the morning of May 18, 2024.

Detectives identified the suspected shooter as Kaemarius K. Parks, 18 years old of Centralia, Illinois.
An arrest warrant for Parks has been issued by a Jackson County judge for charges including, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons.

Parks is 5 feet 4 inches tall, 130 pounds, with short hair and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the “Champion” logo on the front, black shorts, and white tennis shoes fleeing westbound on foot from the 700 block of South Lewis Lane.  

Parks is considered armed and dangerous.  Contact law enforcement if contact is made with Parks.
