(IRN) Look for roadside safety check stops in communities across Illinois in March.

Illinois State Police trooper Josh Robinson says signs will warn motorists that they can be pulled over to check for car seats and registration paperwork and using handheld devices.

A dangerous trend he said is drivers watching screens on handheld devices.

Looking at a handheld phone while driving, even at a GPS, is a violation of state law.
