WASHINGTON COUNTY — Washington County authorities are investigating an incident Tuesday night that resulted in the death of a 73-year-old Nashville woman riding a bicycle.
According to Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger, he pronounced Randy M. Love dead at 6:10 p.m. on the Oakdale Blacktop, just one mile east of Oakdale.
Reports indicate the coroner’s office was dispatched at 5:56 p.m. Tuesday to the scene where a bicyclist had been struck by a vehicle. It appeared Love was riding westbound on the Oakdale Blacktop when she was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling in the same direction.
Details on the vehicle which struck her remain unclear. The Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit as well as their Crime Scene Investigation Unit were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Other agencies at the scene were the Washington County Ambulance Service, Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Coulterville Fire Department, Washington County EMA, and the Washington County Coroner.
An autopsy will be performed in O’Fallon.
