CLINTON COUNTY — Authorities report a train derailed late Monday morning in Clinton County.
According to reports, a Norfolk Southern train derailed around 11:22 a.m., on the tracks along Route 161 between Albers and New Baden.
The number of derailed train cars is between 10 and 40. No injuries were immediately reported.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department urges people to keep a safe distance from the train derailment scene. They say hazmat precautions and an active investigation are taking place. They remind people the railroad is private property and note the area is not secure for photo/video ops or sightseeing.
