Geneva “Lorene” Sloat, 75, of Centralia, passed away August 13, 2022, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital, in Centralia.

She was born January 11, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of William and Geneva (McCrary) Quarterman.  On July 28, 1964, in Salem, she married Ronnie Sloat, and he survives.

Mrs. Sloat graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School, and worked for World Color Press for 25 years.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan, and loved gardening, playing bingo, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Ronnie Sloat of Centralia, she is survived by two sons, Ronnie Alan Sloat and wife Lisa of Centralia, and Randy Sloat and wife Rhonda of Centralia;  five grandchildren, Amethyst Tabor, Lenzie Sloat, Ashley Perrigan and husband Billy, Dustin Sloat and wife Alex, and Phyllis Newcomb;  thirteen great-grandchildren, Ava, Abigail, Hadlea, Aubree, Brady, Joshua, Carter, Everly, Gideon, Oliver, Alister, Mckenna, and Kaisley;  and three siblings, Irene Sutherland, Gene Quarterman, and Susie Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  son, Curtis Sloat;  and six siblings, Benny Quarterman, Eddie Quarterman, Barbara Benjamin, Kathy Stuber, Mildred Linder, and Leta Chapman.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sloat will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Rev. Don Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Centralia.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service, at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be made at www.osbornfuneral.com, or on the Osborn Funeral Home Facebook page.
