Updating a story from last week, according to Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon, preliminary results of an autopsy conducted on the body found Monday in a car partially submerged in a creek off Odin Road has been confirmed as that of a missing 19-year old Odin man.  Cannon says the autopsy confirmed the identity of Joseph E. “Joey” Whyers, Junior, and has revealed a tentative cause of death.  According to Cannon, all evidence from the post-mortem shows, Whyers died as a result of blunt force trauma in the accident in which his car came to rest in a creek south of Odin.  He says it also showed that the accident most likely occurred the evening he was last seen, March 18th.  Whyers’ body was found Monday morning when a local firefighter was traveling on Odin Road just south of Community Beach and noticed damage to the bridge.  Closer inspection revealed a car had apparently gone off the bridge and had landed where it couldn’t be easily noticed from the bridge.
