The number of animals that need homes that are at the Washington County Animal Shelter has increased significantly in the past week. 1 dog found a home, but 8 new dogs were brought in, including a Great Dane mix, a couple of tan Min Pin mixes, a shepherd, a Schnauzer, a lab mix and a couple of beagles, so the number of dogs has gone from 4 to 11. Last week there were 6 cats available, and this week there are still 6, so there are now 17 animals at the shelter that need homes this holiday week. Dog adoption fee is $30, which includes an A.V.I.D. Identification Chip. In addition, new owners will receive a certificate for $50 off spaying or neutering. Pictures are available online at www.petfinder.com and type in 62263 at the first space in the upper left. The shelter also is a place to drop off aluminum cans for recycling. They then use the money from this to help pay for expenses of housing the cats and dogs. It is located at 17,990 Richview Road in Nashville. For more information, call 327-4800, extension 355.
