The Kaskaskia College Blues and Concert Choir, under the direction of Professor Lynda Marshall, will be touring local schools on Friday and December 4th. Professor Marshall contacted local high school music directors to coordinate the tour. Schools scheduled include Breese Central Community High School, Carlyle Junior High, Carlyle High School, Centralia High School, Nashville High School and Sandoval High School. The tour program will showcase musical selections the college choirs will be presenting at “Christmas at KC: Yuletide Greetings Around the World”, on December 5th. The tour program will include holiday music spanning from the Renaissance era to contemporary times. A unique setting of the traditional “Deck the Halls” will take listeners by surprise with a compilation of styles, including funk and gospel sections. The well-loved “Carol of the Bells” based on a Ukranian folk song is sure to be a hit with the young audience members. Other settings of carols originally from Spain, Austria, Wales, and France will create an exceptional educational experience for those in attendance. Members of the choirs include: Shelby Gibson (Breese), Hannah McCarty (Carlyle), Patrick Niemeyer (Breese), Elizabeth Novy (Breese), Jacob Wacker (Nashville), and James Waugh III (Nashville).
