Two Nashville High School seniors will be at a banquet in Bloomington today receiving their IHSA 2014-15 IHSA All-State Academic Team awards along with 24 others from the state.  Madison Frerker is a state champion, as her golf team took home a state championship in 2013.  She is the Student Council President and this past year’s Homecoming queen.  All while maintaining a 3.99 grade point average.  She plays the saxophone in several different bands, runs track, serves as a “huddle leader” with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, helps others through her work with National Honor Society and Tri-M, the music honor society, and competes in WYSE and Olympiads. She put in two years of basketball to go with four years of golf and four years of track, has held office with most of her groups, and served as captain of the golf and track teams as well as Nashville’s “Foreign Language Day” team.  And she somehow found time to pick up the baton as drum major with the Hornet Marching Band on their successful season.  Alex Orr is number one in his class with a perfect 4.0, he scored a perfect 36 on his ACT, he has been the captain and top scorer on his Scholastic Bowl team for three years, he’s earned First Division ratings in piano and trumpet at state Solo and Ensemble contests with Nashville’s band programs, and he’s run three years of track and four of cross country, including a year as captain of his cross country team, which made it to the state meet in 2013 and 2014.  In addition to cross country, track, Scholastic Bowl and music competitions, Alex has participated in WYSE, Hi-Q, Olympiad and math team, Future Business Leaders of America, and Tri-M, as well as being on student council.
