The Washington County Board had a very long meeting on Tuesday night.  County Highway Engineer Mitch Burdick presented the bid results for Motor Fuel Tax Oil purchases and the winning bidder was Don Anderson Company of Hoffman for a total of up to 350,500 gallons for up to $713,210.  For the bituminous materials bids, Glen D. Snead was the winning bidder on up to 2,150 tons for up to $94,786, while Doelling Truck Service out of Addieville was the winning bidder on up to 300 tons for up to $12,000 and Moeller Brothers, Incorporated out of Nashville was the winning bidder of up to 1,600 tons for up to $75,750.  He also reported that the bridge at the intersection of County Highway 11 and Oak Road will be under construction beginning Monday, April 27th.  This will result in CH 11 and the intersection will be closed during this time.  Also, the work being done on County Highway 4 at the Interstate 64 overpass is complete and the roads are open.  Also at the meeting, Dr. Jay Colbrook talked about the Washington County Animal Shelter, which needs some work done to it, but that won’t be until next year.  He said they only had to have 1 cat and 1 dog put down, the rest found new homes.  Supervisor of Assessments, Sharon Harre Mewes, reported that they have hired Charlotte Simonton as a new employee, but she has worked for the county in the past.  Her office is currently working on exemptions for the disabled and those over 65-years of age.  After that, they will begin to work on the publications for the Board of Review as they will work to close out the year.  She also commended the Board on the great job moving from the Courthouse to the Nashville Community Center.  The Board went through several reports that they approved.  The Ambulance and Rescue Service responded to just 155 calls in March, the fewest of the fiscal year.  There were 174 calls in February, and 727 for the year.  That’s an average of 182 calls per month for this year.  The County Clerk & Recorder Office offers several services for a fee to residents of the county and other outside agencies, such as certified birth certificates, licenses and recording fees.  In March, they had revenues of $34,345.62 from these fees and tax redemptions and stamps, nearly $6,000 more than in February.  The Sheriff’s report showed only 12 arrests for March, down from the 19 arrests made in February.  Deputies issued 34 tickets last month, up significantly from 21 tickets the previous month, while they issued 48 warning last month, again up significantly from the 25 warnings in February.
