The Kaskaskia College Nashville Steering Committee met in regular monthly session at the Roland Barkau Memorial Golf Course in Okawville on Wednesday to discuss ongoing fundraising efforts for the Nashville Education Center campaign and to draw the winning ticket for the $10,000 cash raffle. The Nashville Education Center campaign is seeking to raise the remaining $500,000 needed to complete the $3.2 million project, a 12,500 square foot building under construction north of Nashville on Highway 127. The building is desperately needed to replace the 3,200 square feet of leased space on Kaskaskia Street in Nashville, which can no longer meet the needs of area students for classroom and lab space. The new building, which will incorporate nursing labs, expandable classrooms, distance learning classrooms, business incubator offices and a free-to-use computer room for public usage is being constructed to meet the demand created by higher enrollment numbers of students in the Washington County area. A recently completed fundraising effort was a $10,000 Cash raffle, in which 200 tickets were sold for $100 each, with the winning ticket receiving the $10,000 prize. The winning ticket, drawn at the Steering Committee meeting, was jointly purchased by Jim Beasley, Joe Kurwicki, Don Berdeaux, and Peggy Webber.
