It’s a big weekend in Nashville for music, as Nashville High School hosts one of the sectional IHSA organizational music contests, bringing in schools from all over southern Illinois to compete.  NCHS Music Director Steve Browne says there will be 31 performances beginning tonight.  Choirs will be going on Friday beginning at 4:20 and going until about 8:30 in the auditorium, while bands will be performing in the Assembly Hall at the same time.  Then on Saturday, the bands will be performing from 9 AM to 4 PM.  He says these performances are usually the best that those bands have, saving their best performances for the end of the year.  It will be fun to see all those bands doing all their cool stuff.  There will be concert choirs and bands and symphonies, as well as jazz choirs and bands performing, in small and large sizes.  The points each group earns will be added to the IHSA solo and ensemble points to determine their ranking in the state.  Currently Nashville is in 7th place in Class B with 354 points.  It is free to get in at any time to see the entertainment and there is also plenty of food in the cafeteria.
