Yesterday was Earth Day, but schools are having special activities all week long. Such as Saint Bruno School in Pinckneyville. They are going to Pyramid State Recreation Area today to learn about nature. It is part of the “Earth Day in the Parks” program, sponsored through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. This could be visiting nature, planting things or cleaning areas up. It also encourages them to return to see how things are progressing on what they did. There were 14 events selected by the IDNR to be funded by them for the schools and Saint Bruno was one of those selected. So despite Earth Day being yesterday, it isn’t too late to get out and celebrate nature.
