A Jefferson County man was sentenced last Thursday, to federal prison on crack cocaine charges, according to Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois.  27-year old Andre T. Davis of Mount Vernon was sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release and fined $200.  The Court sentenced Davis as a Career Offender due to Davis’ previous criminal history.  He had previously pleaded guilty to a federal indictment charging that on May 18, 2012, in Jefferson County, Illinois, Davis knowingly and intentionally distributed crack cocaine.  The investigation in this case was conducted by the Joint Narcotics Unit of the Mount Vernon Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
