Next Tuesday is the March Primary Election.  It’s time to start thinking about who you want to vote for that might provide the best government for you, be that at the federal level, state level or the local level.  Here’s a look at the Washington County ballot.  For United States Senator, Richard Durbin is unopposed on the Democrat side, while James Oberweis is running against Douglas Truax on the Republican ballot.  For Governor and Lieutenant Governor (on the ticket together now), there are 4 on the Republican ballot.  That includes Bill Brady with Maria Rodriguez, Dan Rutherford with Steve Kim, Kirk Dillard with Jil Tracy and Bruce Rauner with Evelyn Sanguinetti.  On the Democrat side, there is Tio Hardiman with Brunell Donald and Pat Quinn with Paul Vallas.  Only Lisa Madigan is on the Democrat ballot for Attorney General, while Paul Schimpf is the only one on the Republican ballot.  There is only one on the ballot for each party for Secretary of State, that being Democrat Jesse White and Republican Michael Webster.  Sheila Simon is unopposed as a Democrat for Comptroller, while Judy Baar Topinka is unopposed as a Republican.  On the Treasurer ticket, Republicans Tom Cross and Bob Grogan will run against each other, while on the Democrat side, Michael Frerichs is unopposed.  There are no races for Congressman of the 15th District, as Democrat Eric Thorsland stands alone, as does Republican John Shimkus. Only Democrat Lynn Foster is on any ballot for State Central Committeewoman for the 15th Congressional District.  As is Brandon Phelps for Committeeman for the same district.  For State Senator, Kyle McCarter is unopposed on the Republican ballot and there is no candidate on the Democrat ballot.  Charlie Meier is the only Republican candidate for Representative in the 108th Representative District, while there is no Democrat running.  There are races in both parties for Representative in the 115th District.  It will be William Kilquist against Tony Mayville on the Democrat ballot and Terri Bryant against Robert White on the Republican ballot.
