Hunting enthusiasts are expressing some concern over the low number of deer reported killed during the firearm hunting season.  25 percent fewer deer were hunted this year compared to last, a continuing downward trend across Illinois.  While some say less people hunted this year because of the cold weather, others are worried that many deer were already killed off by a viral disease.  State officials say that may be a contributing factor, but point out that deer numbers have been declining to meet targets set by the Illinois General Assembly.
