A former state trooper is trying for a fourth time to get his license back following a 2007 fatal freeway crash in southwestern Illinois. The Belleville News-Democrat reports Matt Mitchell is once again asking state officials to reinstate driving privileges he lost after pleading guilty to reckless homicide. Authorities say Mitchell was driving more than 120 mph and using his cellphone on Interstate 64 east of Saint Louis when his car crossed the median and slammed into a car occupied by two Collinsville sisters. The girls, ages 18 and 13, died. Mitchell now lives in Texas and has said he needs to get his license so he can work. He can apply for reinstatement every three months. His previous requests have all been denied.
