A 24-year old Breese man was sentenced yesterday in Clinton County to 2 years probation after he pleaded guilty to a Driving Under the Influence charge connected to a March fatal accident. Bradley Thole was the driver of a vehicle involved in a March single-car rollover accident that resulted in the death of 32-year old Kyle P. Holthaus. Another passenger in the vehicle, 25-year old Leticia Holthaus suffered injuries along with Thole, and both were taken to a Saint Louis area hospital. Thole was allegedly swerving from lane to lane on Jamestown Road south of Jamestown when he lost control of the vehicle which went off the road, hit a culvert, and overturned several times. The court record indicates “extraordinary circumstances exist” in the case, and so Thole was sentenced to probation. A second charge of Aggravated DUI resulting in a Fatal Accident was dismissed, as was a charge of Reckless Homicide, DUI, Transportation of Alcohol and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
