MARION COUNTY — A 30-year-old Salem man was airlifted from SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia Tuesday for treatment of injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash Monday night on Green Street Road.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Edward Hurd was driving his motorcycle westbound on Green Street Road when a tow truck being driven southbound on Bell Club Road by 50-year-old Jason Howard of Walnut Hill reportedly pulled from a stop sign and into the path of Hurd motorcycle.
Hurd reportedly struck the tow truck just behind the driver’s door and was thrown from the bike.
He was transported by ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia before being airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.
Howard was uninjured but was cited for failure to yield at a stop intersection.
